where are you based?
I work from my home studio space in Rainham, Providing
a warm, cozy, inviting and relaxed space for all.
HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL YOU TAKE?
I take a large number of photographs during the shoot (normally hundreds!) and will select the best photographs and carefully and professionally edit each one for you to view in your password protected online gallery.
Newborn FAQ's
How long does a shoot last?
For a typical Newborn session I allow 2-3 hours. This allows the time for the shoot to be baby led and allow time for feeds and changes whilst ensuring baby is happy and safe throughout.
At what age does a Newborn Session become a Children’s Session?
Newborn Session fees apply to 0-12 weeks. If your little one is older than 12 weeks, you would be booking a Children’s Session. Please note that Newborn Sessions should ideally be done within those first few weeks to ensure a more sleepy and curled up baby, but I am aware that this is not always possible.
What if my baby cries or doesn’t settle?
Many parents worry that their baby will cry on the day and I won’t be able to get the images they hoped for. Please be reassured that the session itself is very calm and relaxed allowing plenty of time to settle baby as needed, there is no pressure. All newborns cry sometimes, and if your baby does we will take time to settle just as you would at home. If for any reason I feel baby is unhappy with what I am doing, I will stop. No image is more important than babies comfort. If baby needs feeding, soothing, or cuddles—we wait. Sessions are baby-led, because comfort is everything.
What should I bring to a Newborn shoot?
A few useful suggestions:
Your changing bag, A backup outfit for any young siblings, A favourite toy or comforter,
Babies look their best in timeless outfits which fit them snuggly. I have a variety of outfits in my collection but feel free to bring anything that hold significance to you. Lastly, a pacifier /dummy can be very helpful if your baby is a light sleeper or unsettles easily.
Has Nanny knitted a keepsake blanket? Have a teddy with sentimental value?
If you wish to include a special item then do let me know.
I suggest dressing in layers as the studio space will be kept warm. I do this to keep your (naked) baby warm, snug and sleepy.
Family shoot FAQ's
Where does the shoot take place?
A shoot can either take place in the studio space or outside at a prearranged location. The woods, or the park etc are ideal places. This maybe more suited to more active children who enjoy space to run.
How long does a shoot last?
A typical family session lasts between 45 minutes and 1 hour. This allows children to acclimate to the environment and to me. They'll have time to play, snack, run around and, in between the fun, have their photographs taken.
How do you prepare for a family photo session?
A few days before the photo shoot, start talking to your children and let them know what to expect: Tell them where the photo shoot will take place. Let them know how long the family session will last. Explain what is expected of them during the photo shoot.
What should I bring to a family shoot?
A few useful suggestions:
Wet wipes and nappies (if applicable), a backup outfit for Younger children , snacks and water bottle, a favourite toy or comforter.
What do I wear for my shoot?
Anything that you and your family feel comfortable in. Some families prefer to pick clothing in co-ordinating colours but the most important thing is to choose your outfits that express who you are.
As a guide simple clothes tend to work best and avoiding logos, large character prints and stripes is preferable. Layering works really well for creating different looks and a change of outfit can be a good idea for very little ones.
Can we bring our Dog along to the shoot?
Yes absolutely! I have dogs myself and understand how they are an important part of the family. I love photographing children with their four-legged friends.
Please let me know in advance if you wish to bring your dog along to the shoot so I can ensure we choose a suitable location for the shoot (and I can make sure I have some treats in my pocket!)
